Santa tour given the go ahead

November 5th has submitted a Covid related risk assessment to our Borough Council which reflects dramatic changes to aspects of our Santa Tour. The Rule of 6 and Hands-Face-Space have become second nature ways of living safely.

Our plan is to have Santa moving very slowly along all of our streets. Residents would be asked to respect these difficult times by remaining in their own gardens or on doorsteps. This would mean our avoiding social mixing and ensuring the 2 metre spacing for Santa and his stewards.

If we encounter groups in the road we would have to divert. Safety has to be everyone’s priority.

We will not be able to collect toys, although arrangements have been made with the Volunteers to receive new toys for the Mission Christmas Charity in their driveway boxes.

The Village is always very generous towards our cash collections for charities. This year we would really encourage everyone to show their kindness by donating to one of the chosen charities using the easy to use options on our website (www.queniborough.org/donations)

This will definitely not be the Tour that our Santa would choose or is accustomed to but he knows that families have said “better to have a drive by tour than no tour at all”.

Please keep an eye on our event page Santa Tour 2020 or Facebook. We will try to update Santa’s position as he travels around the local streets.

Also, many thanks from our Committee and the Volunteers Group for the help, warmth of feeling and kindness shown by you all throughout this unusual year. We look forward to 2021 and meanwhile wish you everything good for the festive season.
